Can my dentist shave down my front veneer that is a bit too long and bulky?

I had 8 porcelain veneers placed yesterday and I am noticing that one veneer in the front is a bit longer then the other and looks kind of bulky. Can my dentist shave down my front veneer that is a bit to long and bulky? Or will I need to get the veneer replaced? Can you please also give me your opinion on the overall look of my veneers. And any suggestions. Thanks!

This is very easy to accomplish.  Call your dentist and he/she will shorten the tooth slightly and it will look great.  It should only take a few minutes.  Good luck.

It would have been more ideal to have made the necessary corrections made prior to cementing.  Minor adjustments to length and shape can be made after cementation, but only to a certain extent.  If further correction become necessary, you may need to have them remade.  It is too difficult to comment on the appearance based on your photo.  Any dentist should acquire your approval on the final appearance of the veneers prior to cementing.  I would return and discuss your concerns with your doctor.  Hope that helps :)

I routinely schedule a follow-up appointment for final shaping of veneers.   When you are numb it is hard to tell exactly how the smile will look when anesthesia is gone.When adjusting veneers always err on the side of conservative adjustment.Ira L Shapira DDS
