Hello,Topical Elidel (pimecrolimus) is an immunomodulator typically used to treat inflammatory skin conditions like eczema. While it isn’t a standard treatment for alopecia areata, which is an autoimmune condition, there is some theoretical potential for it to help by modulating the immune response around hair follicles. However, its efficacy for alopecia areata has not been well-established in clinical studies.Corticosteroids, minoxidil, and other immunotherapies are more commonly used and have a stronger evidence base for treating alopecia areata. I recommend consulting with a hair loss specialist to determine the most effective treatment plan for your specific case.Best regards,Dr. Marco Barusco
Elidel has been used alone or in combination with Retin A to treat Alopecia Areata. I works in some cases but like all other treatments for this condition it works for some but not in others. It s kind of a trial and error situation like many other skin conditions. if something works stick with it if nit try something else.
