I had a temporary crown placed two days ago on the back molar on the right side of my mouth. The gum area directly behind the tooth have been swollen and throbbing ever since, and now going on day three there are two areas that have developed a white “patch”. It’s a holiday weekend and my dentist isn’t calling back so I’m just wondering if I should go to an urgent care for antibiotics? Just not sure if it’s healing from the trauma or becoming infected.

See if the situation improves as often it does take a few weeks for things to feel normal. If the problem continues then suggest to your dentist to have the crown replaced with a new one.
Early sensitivity after veneer cementation is not expected, but can happen. This usually subsides within 4-6 weeks but can last longer. Drink through a straw until then. If it does not subside on its own your doctor can call you in a small steroid pack to help if needed. Also, have him/h...
