My temporary veneers were beautiful and I was so happy, however when the permanent veneers were seated, they were ugly, crooked some longer and thinner, fuller than the temporaraies. I'm sad, I hate my teeth and lost a lot of money.
Answer: Your dental team should be on the same pageFor esthetic cases a protocol needs to be followed
When dealing with esthetic cases communication is a key thing for the dental team, as far as form before preforming any esthetic case a wax up should be done, this will allow the dentist to understand the limitations for that particular case and to be able to communicate with the patient through a muck-up ( placing the outcome of the wax up directly in the mouth with some visacryl material) so the patient can evaluate the outcome. Once that is done if the patient proceeds with the treatment the temporaries are made out of that wax up and in the paitent likes how they loo a impression should be made to communicate to the technician exactly the form, size, etc that we are expecting.
The shade of course has to be taken in cosideration with the adjacent dentition.
So if your problem is the forme, alignment, etc

Answer: Why Don't My Permanent Veneers Look As Good As The Temporary Veneers Did?
I can feel how frustrated you are. I can tell you what I think happened, and how we insure that doesn't happen in our cosmetic dental practice, but can't say for sure what actually did happen in your case.
First, your dentist made your temporary veneers with a plastic material. Your permanent veneers were made by a dental technician with porcelain. One reason why did weren't the same as the temporaries you liked, is that your dentist did not communicate very effectively to the dental technician (ceramist), or the ceramist did not read the instructions. However, there is a way that this can be prevented, and this is how we do it in our office.
First, we discuss smile design with the patient before anything is ever done. What they like, don't like, want to change, and how they want it changed. Also, how long the front teeth are and any changes needed to make the veneers longer or shorter than the original teeth. Color, what color does the patient want the veneers to be? The same as the natural teeth, or whiter or darker? How many veneers does the patient want? Many questions, and until all these questions are asked and answers determined, neither the dentist or ceramist can design the final veneers.
It sounds like your dentist made your temporaries the way you wanted your new smile to look. Then all he had to do was take photos of you in your temporaries (we call the temporaries the "trial smile"), measure the lengths of the teeth, take an impression of the temporaries for a model of the temporaries to be used by the ceramist as his template. Then your dentist also needs to accurately tell the ceramist the actual color to make the new veneers, along with the color of the underlying teeth after they were prepared. And, if he's really a good cosmetic dentist, he will discuss the surface texture and incisal translucency and if or how much of each you would want. If your dentist did all of these things and gave the ceramist accurate instructions on how to make your veneers, there is little excuse for a huge disparity between the temporaries you liked and the actual veneers that were made.

Answer: Temporary veneers prettier than the permanent ones
This is a battle of communication. The key is an excellent lab that is open to input from the patient and dentist. Models and photos of the temporaries you liked should have been taken to try to get a result as close as possible to the temporaries. The lab can use such devices as a putty index made from the model of the temps showing exactly where the incisal edges should be and how thick they should be. One trick is to remove just one of the temps and try the new porcelain veneer in to see how closely it matches the adjacent temp. This all needs to happen before the veneers are cemented into place. Good luck, I hope you continue your journey to achieve the smile of your dreams! Bernice Szafarek DMD

Answer: Temp Veneers Were Perfect , Perm Veneers Are Ugly and Not the Same at All As the Temps. WHY?
The problem seems to be lack of communication between the dentist and you, the dentist and the lab. Did the dentist trial seat them in your mouth and let you see BEFORE permanently bonding them? Probably not.
