How long must I not chew after dental implant?

6 weeks is a safe minimum estimate depending on the type of implant system and the condition of the bone it is being placed in. It may take up to 90 days for completely normal function to be safe. Be sure to to check with your surgeon for an estimate of time based on your individual case.

Hi:Normally I suggest not to put any pressure on the implants for 90 days.  This also depends on if you have a temporary that is attached to the implant that you are chewing on or if there is removable prosthesis on top of the implants.  If there is anything directly attached to the implants the waiting period is 90 days if there is nothing attached directly to the implants you can start chewing 2-4 weeks later on it.  It is always best to consult the surgeon that is placing the implant for best instruction, since, he/she would know the stability of the implant and the amount and quality of the bone.Best of luck!

Generally speaking, the rule of thumb is not to chew on or place force on a dental implants for 90 days.  However, your letter did not say if these implants will only have a healing cap on them.  If this is the case, most likely you can chew with your teeth as no force will be placed on the dental implants  if you have your other teeth.  Since, I do not know your situation in entirety, be sure to ask you dentist. 

are 2 separate things,one is the after implant set, you need to be on soft foods, only 2 days, later on, continue as normal. and the other thing is that after placing implants you need to wait at least 3 months before you load them, its completely separate thing.
