Will teeth move if I place an implant 4 months after extraction?

Asked By:idph in Miami, FL

I wore braces for 2 years but now I have to remove tooth #30 due to a chronic abscess (ongoing for the past 5-6 years) resulting from a failed root canal (done in 2000). Upon removal, I will wait until the infection drains and the bone heals -- I'm thinking about 3-5 months. Will my teeth shift in this time period? Is there anything that can be done to keep the surrounding teeth from moving position and/or crowding the implant site? Thank you.
