Can I have my front teeth bonding removed?

If you had no tooth preparation (drilling) on your teeth before the direct composite bonding was placed, more than likely your orthodontist or cosmetic dentist will be able to remove it prior to starting your orthodontics.  I wouldn't be too concerned that you would have any decay under the bonding, as that rarely happens in cases where the bonding was just done to close the spaces.However, be aware that spaced teeth have a very high relapse potential, especially if you are an adult.  Thus, you might go through the orthodontics, and after the braces are removed find that your teeth space out again.You might consider porcelain veneers by a reputable cosmetic dentist, as that could be completed within a few weeks and no retainer would be need and or relapse would be likely expected.

The teeth can be evaluated for decay by radiographs and if there is decay it can be corrected. Based on what you described there are a couple scenarios which should be evaluated for your case. If your teeth were the proper width before the bonding was done, then the bonding can typically be removed and braces placed to close the spacing. However, it may be possible that your front teeth were very narrow for your smile and that's why the dentist did not consider placing braces when you were younger. If this is the case, you may way to consider removing the bonding and placing veneers which will be much more aesthetically pleasing and natural than the previous bonding.
