Is Applying Cream to the Nipple Normal After Breast Reduction?

Congratulations on having undergone the breast reduction procedure. The cream your doctor is applying is a topical antibacterial cream. Best to ask him directly if he has specific concerns about infection.

Really need more information about the type of cream that you are applying and the reason for using it.  If you are having healing problems this could be either silvadene or nitroglycerin paste.  Each would have different reasons for being applied.  If you had a free nipple graft it is possible that there are some healing issues involved.

Silver Sulfadiazine is a cream used to apply to wounds to help with cleaning of the wound, protection of the wound from infection and can be used in this situation.  The indication for applying to your recently reduced breast is one that only your surgeon will know.  Worthwhile asking your surgeon for their reasons for this application.  As you have had a graft, I suspect they are asking you to place it on the graft to help keep it moist and infection free.
