Does minoxidil affect testosterone level?

Does minoxidil affect testosterone level?Topical minoxidil does not appear to affect testosterone levels. It may however have some anti- androgenic effects. A paper from 1987 looked at the effects of minoxidil in animal studies and concluded   that minoxidil does not function as an anti-androgen. However, in a new study, researchers in Taiwan showed that minoxidil may block the function of the androgen receptor and blocked the function of certain cells that were dependent on androgens for growth.   The original studies studies that suggested minoxidil is not an anti-androgen need to be reviewed together with recent data that there may be some anti - androgenic effects of minoxidil. There is accumulating evidence that there may be some antiandrogenic effects via the effects of minoxidil on the androgen receptor.It does not however affect testosterone levels

Minoxidil helps slow down hair loss, but it's function does not effect the testosterone level and generally it is safe to use. 

Minoxidil does not effect testosterone levels. Finasteride does raise the testosterone levels on those men who take this medication
