Answer: Sclerotherapy during pregnancy Nothing you can do after the fact, but I would not worry. While there are no studies demonstrating safety of sclerotherapy in pregnancy and it is not recommended in the presence of a known pregnancy, that does not necessarily mean it is harmful either. It simply means that we do not yet know, but the way the medicine works is unlikely to cause any adverse outcomes; especially in a single session. Usually a relatively small volume is injected which is quickly diluted in the bloodstream and so other than the target veins it is unlikely to cause damage elsewhere. Try not to worry and just make sure to see your obstetrician for maternity care.

Answer: Sclerotheapy and pregnancy. There are no studies to prove that sclerotherapy will cause a deleterious effect on the fetus. Certainly no one would knowningly do sclerotherapy on a pregnant lady. The sclerotherapy solution is usually broken down and excreted from the body in less than 24 hours so most physicians feel that it will not affect a fetus but the bottom line is that no lone know for sure. I have twice in over 30 years of doing sclerotherapy had 2 ladies tell me that they found out that they were pregnant following a treatment. Both delivered perfectrly normal babies.

Answer: Sclerotherapy for Spider or Thread Veins It is not recommended to do sclerotherapy during pregnancy, but that is not because studies show that it is unsafe. No one is going to do a clinical trial to answer that question. The drug is usually used in small amounts and binds to large proteins in the blood and cleared over a short period of time. I would discuss it with your Obstetrician.

Answer: Sclerotherapy during pregnancy I don't advise continuing sclerotherapy during your pregnancy, but the small volume of medication usually injected during one sclerotherapy session should not adversely affect the pregnancy.

Answer: Pregnancy and sclerotherapy I would not worry . It you had spider veins injected, it's a small volume used in the treatment. The majority of the sclerosing agent dilutes significantly once it hits large blood volumes.
