Hello, I am only 38 and my neck skin is already very saggy. I don’t know if I can get these muscles to go away but it seems they show because of loose skin. I’ve been told to try Botox , microneedling and also been told that I just need to strengthen my neck. What are your thoughts?
Answer: Neck Sagging There are a variety of treatments that can improve the laxity in your neck. With significant neck sagging you would need a neck lift / facelift with muscle tightening (platysmaplasty). At the same time, lasers treatments (Fraxel, CO2, Erbium, Halo) or microneedling RF (Fractora, Intensif, Morpheus, PiXel8) can be performed to improve crepey skin or wrinkles. You need a formal consultation, as the neck can be treated with a combination approach: - Microneedling and laser treatments for texture - Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, or Jeuveau to help the Platysmal bands - Intensif, PiXel8, Morpheus or Fractora RF microneedling for crepey skin and lifting - Injectable fillers like Belotero, Restylane Silk, and/or Juvederm Volbella to improve lines and folds - Renuvion, ThermiRF, and/or InMode FaceTite for internal tightening - Ultherapy and Thermage for external tightening - regular Venus Legacy, Exilis Ultra, or InMode Forma treatments with facials to maintain tightness - PDO NovaThreads or Silhouette InstaLift cone threads for lifting and long-term collagen production See an expert for a full evaluation and treatment plan based on your individual situation and goals. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Neck Skin I would recommend a couple options. From your photos you can see you have very prominent platysma bands. Using a neurotoxin to reduce the appearance of neck bands (platysma bands) can be an effective treatment option for some individuals. Neurotoxins work by temporarily relaxing the muscles responsible for the bands, resulting in a smoother and firmer neck appearance. I highly recommend you consult with a qualified provider. The provider can assess your specific concerns and discuss outcomes, and determine if neurotoxin is a suitable option for you. It is important to have realistic expectations about the results of neurotoxin in the neck bands as individual responses can vary. In addition to neurotoxin I would suggest you look into Radiofrequency (RF) micorneedling. This is a popular and effective treatment for addressing skin. When used on the neck it can help to improve skin laxity, reduce wrinkles and fine lines and enhance overall skin texture and tone. I hope you find this response helpful.

Answer: Surgery is best bet Thank you for the question. You have plantsman bands which come from a thin muscle in your neck. We don’t know what it creates bands. Botox may provide some help, I’m guessing you’ll find it unsatisfactory for your needs and will really need a anterior platysmaplasty (isolated front next lift) or a neck lift or Mini face lift depending on hoew your lower face and jawline looks, overall, I suspect your best result will be surgical.

Answer: Neck concerns You will likely have the best results from a combination of treatments. Botox can help with the prominence of platysmal bands. Morpheus8 treatments which combine RF technology with microneedling can improve overall skin tone and texture. We also recommend using medical grade skin care products like Transform MD and wearing sunscreen every day.

Answer: I would consider starting with botox. In certain people, Botox is helpful for diminishing the appearance of platysma bands. Since you appear to be too young for platysmoplasty, this is a reasonable starting place. We utilize Morpheus 8 in our practice to tighten neck skin. Frankly, I am unsure if you would benefit from this, however, if Botox doesn't work or is only partially effective, several aggressive treatments with radio frequency microneedling to your neck may be a reasonable alternative short of surgery. Thank you so much for your question. Sincerely, Dr Joseph
