Help! I have had visible fat rolls right under my butt since I was 13 I also weigh around 100 pounds and am 5’2”. When I went in for a consult for coolsculpting I was turned away as I didn’t weigh enough and they were worried about skin laxity. Please recommend me a treatment if there is one that could ultimately remove this random and stubborn roll of fat
Answer: 100lbs, 5'2, please recommend treatment to remove fat rolls under butt The nice posted photos demonstrate "banana rolls" or posterior thigh fat pads. The 2 options are: 1. non surgical injection of KyBella or fat dissolver in 2-3 sessions once a month; 2. surgery of superficial lipo-sculpting under local anesthesia w or w/o sedation anesthesia. Fees in the $3,000-$6,000 ranges. Best to virtual consult with...

Answer: Treating the banana roll The area you were referring to is sometimes called the banana roll. I actually don’t know the correct medical term though I suppose using Latin I could create one. The most common term is still going to be the banana roll. The condition is a skin fold that happens in an upright standing position. Because the hips flex forward the skin is tight and compressed when you’re standing upright. Everybody gets a fold of skin on their lower abdomen in a sitting position. That makes perfect sense since flexing the torso creates a skin redundancy on the area that’s compressed. The exact same process happens on the upper back of the thigh when you’re standing up straight. That’s because on the back of the thigh the skin is tight when you bend forward. just like on the abdomen the skin is tight when you stand up straight. The skin on the back of the thigh and buttocks has a lot of connective tissue that limits skin mobility. Without skin mobility in an upright standing position the skin on the back of the thigh is pushed up into the buttocks and the redundancy creates a skin fold. It’s not related to fat distribution and removing fat will cause defamation and will not solve the problem. Do not have Liposuction for the banana roll!!!!! Liposuction does not fix the problem and generally almost always creates a new problem that is very difficult to fix. There is no good treatment for having this skin fold and you should simply except it as a being normal and relatively common. If you look in the mirror and bend your torso forward flexing your hips you’ll see that it eventually goes away. The best surgical option if there is one would be to excise the skin redundancy but this leaves an unsightly scar that’s far worse than having the skin fold. Learn to accept it and don’t go seeking liposuction for this condition. There are plenty of plastic surgeons lacking and experience feeling quite confident that they can correct us with Liposuction with ease. Have you spent the last 10 years doing only liposuction and fat transfers and 22 years being a board-certified plastic surgeon I am convinced the area should be left alone. If you still decide to move forward and have liposuction then I suggest asking each provider to show you their entire collection of before and after pictures of successful previous treatment of this area. Seeing successful liposuction results of any other area is pointless since Liposuction works well on other parts of the body. It does however not work well when the problem is not related to fat distribution. Reducing the fat on the upper back of your thigh will not look normal and it will not fix the problem. I wish I had a more optimistic answer for you but I highly recommend you stay out of trouble and avoid seeking surgery for this. You will find providers happy to take your money leaving you regretful. Recognize this is just one provider with one opinion. there’s a reason for writing the post with the words I chose.
