Link between Lexapro and Finasteride?

Question

I started taking finasteride and lexapro both on the same day, being prescribed both the same day. Is there a link? My hair has gotten extremely worse and it's only been 3 weeks. I'm not sure if it's the hormones changing from both medicines or just an initial shed from finasteride.

No, there shouldn't be a negative interaction between the two, but keep in mind, you will experience an increase in hair shedding with Finasteride. It will take up to 6 months to see results.  I suggest seeing a hair loss expert now to evaluate and go over your condition and provide you information about your best treatment options. There are great non-invasive options like prp/progesterone and/or hair transplantation. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Finasteride does not interact with Lexapro. I would need to see your scalp up close to review causes but shedding can be from any of 4 possibilities a) a condition unrelated to finasteride or Lexapro b)  finasteride or c) Lexapro or d) both. Starting finasteride is more likely to cause shedding (statistically speaking) than Lexapro. Please see a dermatologist

Lexapro has been reported to cause hair loss. Speak with your doctor and ask about this finding in the literature
