My temporary crown (vital tooth #30) becomes cold-sensitive after I eat something hot?

Temp crown hurts to chew chewy/crispy. It's been 8 days since I got it. It could either be high or irreversible pulpitis. Anyway, another thing I've noticed is that after I eat something hot, it becomes cold sensitive. What does this symptom say about the health of the tooth? Is it alive? Diseased? Do you think it needs a root canal? Thank you so much. You guys are the best!
