I forgot to wear my invisalign braces for 3 weeks. Now they hurt. What can I do?

I finished my last pair of braces before this accident but there is another readjustment period for which my teeth are already scanned. So, we went on vacation out of the country for 3 weeks. I forgot them at home but I thought it wouldn't be that bad not wearing them since I had already finished my latest pair. Now that Im back I realized that that was a mistake. All the braces I try to wear hurt a LOT. What can I do?

I would suggest making an appointment with your orthodontist asap.  They can evaluate your teeth to let you know which tray to most appropriately go back to.  The reason your teeth hurt when you put this invisalign tray in is because your teeth have shifted from not wearing the aligner.  If your able to get a previous tray to fit properly, you may be able to catch up.  Good luck!

Not wearing Invisalign causes teeth to shift back very quickly.  Your best choice is to go back several aligners to one most comfortable, but with some pressure.  Then progress through your aligners as you did before.  A little aspirin or Tylenol likely will be necessary with the first set you wear, but after a few days the discomfort should subside.
