What would be the best option for hair removal in the intimate zone as I have strong hair growth there?

Our patients are really pleased with our Prowave for hair reduction and removal for this area including bikini. Many of our patients do underarm and legs at the same time. It is such a pleasure to not shave and worry about it as a woman. This device is great for lighter skinned patients but darker skinned patients will probably have to use the YAG laser. Make sure to see someone with good clinical experience for safety reasons. 

I would use aerolase as a primary for small areas and/or astanza laser for the rest or all.  pretreat the area with vivatia foam and isdin body lotion (see link to emeragecosmetics.com where we send skincare worldwide).  I have done my whole body and love it.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Hello, and than you for your question and picture! Based upon your picture and history, it seems that you would be a great candidate for laser hair removal! In our practice, we use a Viora laser with either an IPL or YAG handpiece to give patients the best result. It typically takes about 8 treatments for permanent hair reduction. The laser works best with dark hair, as seen in your picture. Thanks for your question and helpful photo.  You are a good candidate for laser hair removal, and it can be done with a couple of different lasers with your skin type and hair color. Be sure to see an expert dermatologist or a laser specialist supervised by a dermatologist for your best outcome.  It will take a series of treatments - all the hair will not be permanently gone with the first treatment, but each time you will be closer to your goal of complete removal.  Please do your homework on who is operating the laser and their level of expertise.  Best of luck!

A very common question
Light energy in the form of Laser (Yag or diode) or IPL can be very effective for hair removal. Dark pigmented hair responds best while grey hair (lack of pigmentation is non-responsive). IPL is quick and painless but may require more treatments. The other laser treatments have a certain discomfort level depending on the energy settings and have a slightly higher risk of injury or other side effects. No matter what therapy you decide on make sure and beauty marks or tattoos are properly covered as they can fade with any light energy that is used. Always use an experienced clinic that explains all the risks and benefits and consider a sample treatment (usually free of charge) to a small area prior to large area of facial session initiation.

Hello, you are a very good candidate for laser hair removal.  You will need a series of treatments but should notice less hair as soon as two weeks after your first treatment. Good luck! 

Hello Tasxo98:Individuals with fair skin and dark, coarse hairs actually gave the quickest and best response to laser hair removal. This treatment will also eliminate ingrown hairs. In our practice, we offer Alex, NDYag, and IPL. The IPL is the least expensive and fastest and would be very effective in someone with your type of unwanted hair. I recommend you consider having the treatment buy a board-certified dermatologist with multiple devices to choose from. A physician will choose settings that will kill the hairs beginning with the first treatment, as opposed to a spa where it is more likely that lower treatment settings will be chosen that will only stun the hairs and make them temporarily smaller and less numerous rather than removing them permanently.Please feel free to reach out to us with any additional questions.Sheryl Clark MD FAAD
