Minoxidil once a day, double the dosage?

Question

Hey! I just started using topical minoxidil today, however I went a little overboard and applied roughly 3 ml worth of minoxidil. This caused a bit of dizziness and a headache. From now on I intend to decrease the dosage. Since I plan on only using it ONCE a day and need to cover the whole NW6 area in which I am thinning, can I use 2 ml minoxidil instead of only 1 ml?

You can use minoxidil 5%- 2 times a day. 5 drops each time. While applying, massage with your fingertips.

You are asking if you can use an FDA approved product in a non FDA approved manner. Sometimes it’s possible but you need to review with a physician first. If he or she is in agreement, the doctor will follow your blood pressure, heart rate and scalp response. Some people are fine on 2 mL and some get dizzy and some get headaches.  Some get bad seborrheic dermatitis. There is not a yes or no answer. You need to review this with a physician. A 27 year old might be given the okay. A 97 year old will not.

Minoxidil, when it is absorbed by the body through the skin, is a hypotensive agent and can lower your blood pressure. That is why increasing the dose in your situation is not good
