Should my scars look like this after having microneedling done? (Photo)

Hi, I had dermapen done yesterday and I now look like this. The esthetician said she went over the scar area extra hard with 1.5mm needle as it was scars and that's why it looks so horrible. She said it would settle down. Today it feels a bit stingy and it looks much worse than my original scars. It's almost as smaller wounds and the area around it is very red. Is this normal? Will this leave a permanent mark? I am so so worried and upset. Kind regards

Hello and thank you for your question. At this point I would not be concerned as Microneedling creates an injury on the skin. I would wait at least until 1 week and if there is no resolution, contact your practitioner.

Ideally you should ask your dermatologist or plastics who performed this procedure as they know the depth, and the passes together with the lubricant used during the procedure. All we know is that you have skin that is red, with compromise of the epidermis. Wound care at this time is paramount.
