Are there time constraints for redoing a bone graft for a future tooth implant?

I had a tooth extracted with bone graft 3 weeks ago. The bone graft didn't take so I'm told it needs to be redone and that it needs to be done ASAP before the current would is fully healed. Does this sound normal?

Hello.  With an xray I can help you more, but if you don’t have enough bone and you will need in the future to get an implant, is good after the extraction have a bone graft.

It is best to bone graft an extracted site immediately.  You are still in the window of initial healing so if the first bone graft failed for any reason, it is a good idea to re-do it unless there is major infection in the area.

Dear cemo88, I'm so sorry that your graft did not take. The bone surrounding the graft site will deteriorate if you don't get the graft redone. Do it as soon as possible.
