For many years, one of my front teeth is a crown. It came off several years ago and was re-cemented. Three weeks ago, it came off when the pin broke at the gum line. As a temporary measure, it was re-cemented but with a "splint" on the back side (attaching to teeth on either side) for additional support. I have a consult scheduled for tomorrow re: implant. At 66 yrs., any suggestions? Can the broken pin be removed/replaced with a new/larger one and my crown be re-attached? Thanks

In some conditions splinted crowns are indicated, but if that is not required thn separate crowns are always beneficial . one example is , in future , if issue is with any one crown thn only that replacement is required but in splinted unit u have to go for whole unit and have to pay for all crown.
Mayank,
Until the fillings(Amalgam) is removed you won't know if it will need it will need a root canal. If it needs a root canal you will also need a post and core and a crown. If you don't need a root canal might need a crown or not.
Check that you get your root canal done by a specialist with...
