The surgery was done under general anesthetic at 8am this morning .Now I know I was on some strong pain killers at hospital but it is now 9pm and still no bleeding , no pain , is this normal. Just some slight bruising , my gums are darker.
Answer: Pain Free Implants Well, in my dental practice, this is normal. Placing implants should be a low pain treatment and I usually do not sedate my patients. Sometimes I don't even have to get patients as numb as I would to do a filling! It's all in the hands of your dentist and we are all different. Sounds like things went well.

Answer: No pain after dental implants! This is one of the funniest questions I've ever read! It's so unfortunate that patients are led to believe pain is necessary after dental implants are placed. Patients hear the word "surgery" an immediately assume the worst.I usually tell my patients that the removal of the tooth creates greater post-treatment discomfort than the implant placement. This is due to the inflammation caused by the procedure. Implant placement itself should cause little-to-no inflammation! The only discomfort is caused by the pushing back of the gum tissue, and how forcefully the gum tissue is held during surgery, as well as placement of the stitches. If the gum tissue is treated gently and with care, minimal swelling and minimal discomfort should be expected.Keep treating the area with ice on and off, and also by taking an anti-inflammatory as a precaution for the first 48 hours, as inflammation usually peaks between 48-72 hours after surgery. Congratulations on investing in excellent quality modern dentistry for a healthy mouth!
