SMP on a raised scar? (Photo)

Question

Previously had a FUE transplant into my scalp scar (Dec 2019). Didn't end up as great as I expected. It's been well over a year and I've only notice very little growth. Would SMP work on a raised scar to help camouflage it?

Thank you for your question and posting your pictures. Unfortunately, scar tissue has very little vascular supply. For this reason, hair transplants into the scar often do not take. SMP creates a camouflage effect by introducing pigment into the tissue. It can often help the make a scar less noticeable. Given the raised nature of your scar, it will not completely eliminate the scar from view but should soften the appearance. It can take 3 to 4 sessions to adequately pigment areas where scar tissue is present.

The raised scar should first be flattened with an appropriate steroid use (e.g.Kenelog) and then followed with SMP when indicated
