As above - the problem only appears to be skin deep - can this be treated?

		It just depends on what your nose looks like, is it soft tissue or cartilage that is causing the problem

From the description I am not sure what the exact nature of the problem is. If you have a depression to either side, filler may be used. Filler can also be used to camouflage irregularities. Kenneth Hughes, MD Los Angeles, CA

Picking did not cause the bulging.  You need an evaluation by a plastic surgeon.  It sounds like the muscles at the base of your nose may be distorting the nostrils when you smile.
