I have just gone through my first Pico Focus laser treatment for a small area of depressed acne scar with pigmentation in the first photo. The 3 scars(2 bigger on top and 1 at the bottom) are relatively formed early, only got it within the last 3 months by regret because I was picking at that spot due to acne. Could I seek a second opinion if the Pico Focus laser was a good choice for me to make these scars disappear with time? How long does it usually take for new collagen to fill in the scars?
Answer: Picosure for depressed Acne scars Picosure focus lens treatment will be a good choice for depressed acne scarsIn my experience, patience is required with estimated 3-5 treatments a month apart to see a good result.Collagen does take time to buildFor a quicker result, you can consider doing subcision with injection of collagen stimulator such as Sculptra by a trained medical professional- this can be done together with PicoSure treatmentsBest wishesDr Bernard Tan

Answer: However no matter what you do, your scarring will not go away completely with any type of treatment however no matter what you do, your scarring will not go away completely with any type of treatment. it is very, very important that you aim for an improvement (and not 90%) in your acne scarring and not the complete elimination of the scarring, otherwise you are going to be disappointed.

Answer: Waste of time and money If your clinic can give you a written guarantee that Pico can treat this fibrotic and tethered scar, by all means try it. Singapore has a poor record of sales to scar patients as I end up seeing most of these cases in Australia .If you could see someone medical , namely with a Specialist degree, this would help you. I keep stating the dermatologist at NSC or National Skin Centre will help, see Prof CL Goh, IMO angled CO2, and subcsion will help, if not RF insulated microneedling with subcission. Now, 3-4 sessions then reassess, if still a tiny amount of scarring dilute Sculptra or HA filler can be used. Will leave it up to you. Do I use Pico for acne scars, yes on a daily basis but NOT for this scar type. Dr Davin S. Lim. Brisbane. Australia.

Answer: The Picosure will be a great choice but nothing will make your acne scar DISAPPEAR you need to be realistic with your expectations. the Picosure is a great laser and we have had very good results with it. When it is used for melasma and hyperpigmentation frequently 3 sessions each spaced a month apart, is enough sessions. However, everyone is different. my wife needed 4 sessions. Acne scarring is more difficult because the Picosure is stimulating new collagen formation. I think you should mentally plan 6 sessions. we often times alternate these sessions, every two weeks with microneedling to try and combine 2 different modalities. however no matter what you do, your scarring will not go away completely with any type of treatment. it is very, very important that you aim for an improvement (and not 90%) in your acne scarring and not the complete elimination of the scarring, otherwise you are going to be disappointed.we wish we could make the scarring disappear too. however the Picosure laser is the best laser available to help with scarring.david berman md
