Can a silver crown be covered with tooth colored sealant?

Can a tooth colored sealant or veneer be placed over a silver crown on the bottom molar of a pediatric patient? 7 year old little girl that is very bothered by her "silver teeth"......

Sorry to say, but covering a silver crown is not possible.  The only thing that can change this is to have the silver crowns removed and replacing them with tooth-colored ones.  This might be a little expensive, but if it's your child, you might have to find a way to help her if it means that much to her.  Good luck and I hope this helps. Sometimes the crown can be replaced with another silver crown with a window cut out so the entire thing is filled with tooth colored material and polished to shape.  This does mean a weaker restoration, but it might last long enough for the tooth to exfoliate.  A better, but more expensive, option is to have a tooth colored crown.  This will take much more time to do, and most children can't stay still that long, but it is an option.

It is pretty difficult to modify an existing pediatric crown.  A dentist would have to cut into it to get some composite to stick.  If it really bothers the little girl a custom temporary could be made.  There would be a charge for this is assume but it may be worth it to you to make her happy.  The tooth will probably fall out in a few years then the problem is solved.  Good luck!
