I've had Botox to my chin and fillers to elongate my chin, 2 weeks ago I can't speak and dribble drinks How long will it last? First photograph before teeatment Second photograph after botox to chin.

Thank you for your question and for sharing your photographs simeon40. I understand your concern. Botox is a purified protein used to address wrinkles associated with facial expression. When injected into the skin Botox will relax the muscles and smoothen out the overlying wrinkles. The most common areas of treatment are in the upper face. These include the horizontal lines seen on the upper forehead when one raises the brows, the vertical lines seen between the brows when one frowns (frown lines), and the crow's feet seen around the eyes when one smiles.It is difficult to make an assessment without knowing the dose used and the exact placement of the product. However, I hope the information provided here is useful.Although Botox is most commonly used in the upper face, it can also be used in various areas in the lower face. Botox can be placed in the mentalis muscle on the chin to address a cobblestone appearance or dimpling on the chin. In this area 2-8 units of Botox are used.It is critical that in this area a small amount of product is used and placed in the appropriate place. If too much product is used or it is placed in the wrong place it can migrate to nearby muscles. In this case it may affect the muscles around the mouth used for eating, speaking, and breathing. It may also lead to an asymmetric smile. This side effect resolves on its own in 2 weeks to 4 months, depending on the severity. Some find that laser skin tightening treatments using infrared light or radiofrequency may speed up the resolution process.With any injection, there are risks such as pain, bleeding, bruising, redness, swelling, tenderness, and infection. We take special precautions to minimize these risks such as using a painless technique. We also treat bruises with a laser as early as the next day. Bruises usually resolve within two weeks if untreated. After a laser treatment bruises usually resolve in 1-3 days, but may still take two weeks for full resolution. In addition to these risks, with Botox there is also a risk that the product spreads or diffuses to nearby structures. Spread to nearby muscles can lead to side effects such as the temporary appearance of droopy eyelids or a temporary asymmetric smile.
After a Botox treatment, I recommend that my patients avoid heat exposure, alcohol consumption, and strenuous exercise for 24 hours and not lie down flat for four hours. This is because all of these activities may possibly lead to the movement of the product and consequent side effects such as droopy eyelids. Although there have been no definitive studies shown that these actually occur and some physicians do not provide such aftercare instructions, in the absence of data I err on the side of caution and recommend that my patients avoid such activities.

Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin lock the release of a chemical called acetylcholine, which triggers the muscle contractions that create wrinkles. Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin essentially paralyze the muscles and stops them from contracting. Results from these treatments are visible within 3-7 days with results that can last anywhere from 3-4 months.

Your symptoms sound like side effects of Botox Injection to chin muscle. Although there are usually no treatments that can correct this problem, your symptoms will improve and resolve with time as the effects of Botox injection wear off. I suggest that you go back to your Practitioner and let them know about the problem you are experiencing. They are in the best position to advise you and explain what may have caused your symptoms.

Botox typically lasts 3 months. That being said its not like it disappears overnight. I would say that at 6 weeks you should get some muscle activity back that alows you to talk or more important have some competency to the lower lip. I would definately see your injector for his issue!

Thanks for your question this sounds like a complication regarding the Botox you have had. The best thing to do is seek the advice of your injector. Unfortunately Botox takes around 3 months to wear off and it is irreversible, sometimes in this area you may notice things improving over the course of 6 weeks
