I had a root canal several months ago and they put in a temporary filling, the tooth has since cracked and the filling is coming out. What will happen if it finally comes out? There is some pain but it seems to be relieved when I somewhat lift the filling out.

I would agree with Dr Borowski overall--I tell my patients if God's dentistry doesn't last forever mine will not either--that said, a porcelain crown if that is what you have should give you years of service unless there is severe clenching or grinding causing it to flex and crack--hope this...
I would suggest getting this looked at by your dentist. If the chipped piece is stuck in your lip it could cause an infection. You should also see about having the tooth repaired or smoothed.
No way to advise you without a picture and an x-ray, but I would say this: if you broke a tooth and don't have insurance, then get to a dentist and just pay for it. I can promise you that if something is wrong it will only become more expensive and difficult to fix as time passes.
