Dark spot on suture line 3 weeks post Mohs. Any way to make it look better quicker? (Photo)

Question

I had Mohs three weeks ago for bcc. My nose has been really red around the sutures since then. I have used mupirocin several times a day. Yesterday a black spot 3mm in diameter showed up. I went to dermatologist today she poked it with needle and expressed blood. She said it was a broken blood vessel and would take many months to go away. Any way to make it look better quicker? If I went to a plastic surgeon could they do anything? Thoughts? Thanks.

It is probably a dissolving suture, which will surface.If you massage it, the irritation will make it come out quicker.Everything should settle with time.Don't be worried!

It looks as though you are having a suture reaction called a spitting suture. Typically this can be expressed as your derm did by poking it with a needle and pressing around it to express it like a pimple. It should get better right away but if not and it gets worse, please call your derm and let her know so that she can order you some antibiotics.
