what procedure is there that can stop this? is it to do with the position of my gum and teeth? if so could Invisalign fix this? i am 28.

Hi, Invisalign or any orthodontic treatment, will not change your jaw shape and positioning.If you have a class 2 occlusion, means lower teeth/jaw are behind upper or has an increased overjet, this can be improved with orthodontic treatment, including invisalign so jaw will not show as prominent.

looking at the photo it appears that you are moving your lower jaw forward when smiling. Orthodontics may not be the answer for you.
