Will my permanent bridge settle like the dentist says, or should he go ahead and get a new one?

My permanent dental bridge was supposed to be put on today but it didn't feel right, my dentist took xrays and said its not seated properly and told me to wear it for a week, without any type of cement to see if it will seat itself. Is this normal? It keeps moving and is uncomfortable. He said he wanted me to bite down and eat with it, but there is no way it moves and causes major sensitivity. Am I just wasting my time waiting and should I request he redo the bridge?
