Invisalign - postponing IPR

I think that waiting on the IPR depends on your total orthodontic plan. I usually try to IPR on teeth at the prescribed time and don't wait. It is possible that waiting will not hurt but it depends on your plan. You might want to check with your orthodontist.

There is usually a stage at which IPR is to be completed, and it is usually not at the very first stage.  I typically have some latitude built into my prescription to perform IPR as soon as possible but not before it can actually be performed without causing any uneven reduction. Have the dentist who planned your treatment re-examine you as soon as he returns and the one with the appropriate knowledge of your particular case will make the decision as to what is best for you.

Dear diamante67,Thank you for posting your question on RealSelf.  I will do my best to answer your question with the information provided.If IPR is prescribed into the treatment, corrections might not occur if the IPR is not completed at the time it is recommended.  Although, there are times that I may wait on IPR if I notice that there is some space between the teeth that I incorporated IPR.  I recommend addressing your concerns with the treating doctor.  If you don't feel comfortable with their answer, I recommend visiting a local Invisalign treating orthodontist for a second opinion.I hope that this helps and good luck.Best,Dr. Jenn
