Recessed jaw, maxilla, or just recessed chin? (Photos)

I'm trying to figure out which would be better for me. There is a huge sea of information of different types of jaw procedures, chin, myotherapy I figured I start here to get a starting point. I don't know both my jaws are jaws are recessed, or whether I just need a chin procedure. Also my eyes have slight proptosis, and I'm not sure if that is due to the jaws being to back, or whether the eyes is actually pushed forward. Teeth are straight. Big overbite class II malocclusion.

At this point, a sliding genioplasty is your best option to improve facial balance. It does not require further orthodontic treatment and will not affect your bite. You would benefit from a large advancement of your chin (10 mm) which cannot be achieved with a chin implant. The most natural result is achieved with a sliding genioplasty.

With an overall convex facial profile and with your occlusion you have a significant recessed lower jaw. Unless you are going to unravel your current bite with orthodontics and subsequent bimaxillary orthognathic surgery, the camouflage approach would e a sliding genioplasty as you need in excess of 10+mms of chin advancement. Your eyes have pseudoproptosis due to the lack of infraorbital rim projection  (negative orbital vector),  a manifestation the goes along with the overall facial development pattern.

The side profile photographs demonstrate a significant under projecting chin. Placement of a chin implant is performed only for cosmetic purposes to augment the chin forward. It is much less invasive and is usually performed under local anesthesia which takes approximately 30 minutes. A sliding genioplasty is performed under general anesthesia by an oral surgeon In the hospital setting with an overnight stay at the hospital. It is usually performed when the teeth are significantly out of alignment.
