How long until spironolactone starts working again for acne?

I was on spironolactone for 4.5 years. About 5 months ago, I decided I would start weaning myself off due to my skin being consistently clear and being almost 26. For a couple of months I took my usual 100mg every other day, then every couple days. Then about 3 months ago I stopped completely. The last couple of weeks I started breaking out again and restarted on spironolactone. I have now been on it again for 3 weeks. I was only off for 2 months, how long will it take to start clearing?

Spironolactone is an inexpensive pill that is a potassium sparing diuretic, but it is used frequestly by dermatologists for androgen-driven conditions. It acts as an androgen blocker to improve acne, facial hair and alopecia. It does not cause wrinkles.
Thank you for your question. Weight gain and breast tenderness are two of the most common side effects of Spironolactone, I suggest you follow up with your board certified Dermatologist to discuss decreasing the dose of your spironolactone if possible or consider switching the...
Accutane is normally used for 15-20 weeks and I would consider the option of clearing face and getting off aldactone several months before you start trying to conceive.
