How does Emsculpt burn fat?

Question

I've read that the fat is burned as an effect from the contractions of the muscles. Why is it then that they say fat spot reduction isn't possible and ab workouts (ab muscle contractions) don't burn stomach fat, but Emsculpt can burn stomach fat?

EMSculpt Neo has radiofrequency built into the system which helps reduce fat, both on top and behind the muscle.  The older system does not treat fat.

The new Emsculpt NEO works in two ways... one the applicator is placed on the treatment area and high frequency electromagnetic (HiFEM) waves are used to stimulate the muscles to contract and exercise. This will help with fat burning and loss as the muscles will use the energy from the fat to contract. Secondly, the NEO has radiofrequency (RF) waves that warm up and kill the fat cells in the treatment area- causing apoptosis to the fat cells - which die and are slowly absorbed by the body over the next 12 weeks. So one machine does two treatments simultaneously to achieve optimal results.

There are two generations of Emsculpt. The Emsculpt classic and the newer platform named Emsculpt NEO.  The classic uses HIFEM® (High Intensity Focused Electro-Magnetic) energy to cause intense contractions in your muscles. The result is muscle growth and the much appreciated "side effect" is fat loss for the abdomen and tricep area. Exercise cannot replicate the 20,000 involuntary contractions.  The EMSCULPT NEO® is superior to the “Classic” Emsculpt® because it taps into the power of radio-frequency (RF). The NEO® combines both RF and HIFEM® (explained above) in order to provide more fat reduction and more muscle growth than any other device that exists currently.  The NEO's combination of both RF and HIFEM increase both muscle growth and fat loss. Also, it is important to note that the NEO targets many areas of the body but does not reduce fat in all areas. We can tailor treatments to provide 1. only muscle growth, 2. muscle growth and skin tightening, 3. muscle growth, skin tightening and fat loss.
