I had sliding genioplasty 4 years ago. I wanted only a slight advancement, like 5-6mm. My surgeon said he moved it 6-7mm. I am still mostly numb in my lip and chin and have a lot of tightness. Do you think my chin was moved forward more than 6mm? The farther the chin is advanced, is there more damage to nerves and soft tissue. I am just trying to understand what when wrong.

The two approaches to treating tightness and discomfort after a sliding genioplasty is either subtotal reversal or a soft tissue release with interpositional grafting. Each approach has its advantages and disadvantages. But a subtotal sliding genioplasty reversal is no more risky than the first...
The key is often the 'density'/thickness' of the skin/soft tissue. Male tissue has more fullness/structure so one would not expect that type of change. Risk of course has to be accepted, but that is reasonable
100% of people have facial asymmetry as the norm. The human mind is accustomed to seeing facial asymmetry as normal and for that reason seeing a purely symmetrical face has an awkward strange and abnormal look. You can look at computer-generated symmetrical faces with a simple Internet search...
