Is it normal that my face is itchy, dry, and burning red because of Retin-A cream 0.025%? (photos)

I’ve been using Retin a for 1 month or so, I’ve been using it 2-3 times a week for the first 2 weeks and gradually increase it to every other day. My forehead is the worst, my acne was mostly in my forehead but my doctor said to put it on my entire face. My face is currently so fragile, it’s too tightly painful, so dry and itchy esp at night, I put moisturizer with spf like maniac. How long should i stop purging? Or did I developed irritation from it?
