Plastic surgery after gastric sleeve - How long do you have to wait between the two?

Great question!  This will depend on how quickly you loose the weight and become stable.  Often times it takes 6-12 month for you to loose the weight down to where your body become "stable" meaning you're not loosing or gaining any weight.  Then you need to be stable for about 3-6 month before proceeding.  So you're looking at around 1-2 years or more before you're able to have plastic surgeon, again depending on how things progress.Best of luck and hope this information helps!

generally speaking, you want to reach your goal weight before you consider a tummy tuck, BBL, breast lift or other elective procedure, otherwise your results will be suboptimal if you continue to lose weight after the surgery. So, in this case the right time for cosmetic procedures is once you reach your goal weight. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. After gastric sleeve surgery, it's generally recommended to wait at least 12-18 months before considering plastic surgery to remove excess skin and reshape areas like the breasts, thighs, and abdomen. This is because it generally takes a year for patients to reach their ideal weight. In addition, it is also recommended to wait arond 3 months after the initial year in order to make sure the patient is able to maintain the weight.

I would recommend you wait at least a year after your gastric sleeve surgery, and be 30 pounds or less from your goal weight, that way you will have better results from your cosmetic surgery.  And make sure you use a plastic/cosmetic surgeon that has experience with post bariatric surgery patients.  

Hello, Maria. As you may know, every patient is different, and there's no simple answer to your question. The most important thing is to wait until your weight is stable to be sure that you will get the best results. I think that a year after the gastric sleeve procedure will be the right moment to evaluate your condition. Consult a board-certified plastic surgeon who can decide the best moment to go ahead with an abdominoplasty. If everything is going all right, it can be sooner than you expect. Best luck to you! 

Thank you for your question. It varies widely. I usually recommend 3-4 months after your weight loss stabilizes. In general after sleeve most of the weight loss happens in 6-12 months.

I recommend when the weight is stable for several months but it also depends on what part you want to fix. I am President of the American Society of Bariatric Plastic Surgeons. You could do a TT for the fat would be removed in conjunction with skin so it would not help much to wait until all fat is gone sec to your gastric procedure.
