Question

I had my second laser treatment about a month ago. after one month, my skin is still pinkish and one week ago I have noticed brown dots under my eyes. is it normal ?? I am not sure if they are pigmentations or just normal reaction to the fraxel.

I recommend following up with a cosmetic dermatologist for after care. We use a specific protocol of exfoliation, hydration, and moisturizing along with protection after laser treatments. PDT therapy can calm any inflammation. Hyperpigmentation can be improved with a combination of lasers, Aerolase, microneedling/prp, skin lightening, peels, and skin care. Sun protection is essential. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Hello,What you are experiencing one month post laser is a negative but very common side effect.  The residual discoloration is referred to as "post inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH)".  The pinkness will improve slowly over time with very gentle skin care.  The brown pigmentation may also resolve with time, but we provide our laser patients with the option of using a prescription strength bleaching product with "hydroquinone (HQ)."  Although HQ does not work on pink and should be avoided in these areas, it does work well for brown pigmentation.  Gentle skin care and daily sun avoidance and protection is important.  We suggest you follow up with your practitioner for their input as well.Regards.
