How long between Infini RF treatments can subcision be done?

Question

I've had 4 Infini RF treatments to treat my mixed scarring, but I believe a vast amount of them are tethered. My dermatologist recommended that I wait 5 months to see the full results of Infini before doing anything else. It's been a little over 3 months and the results have been so-so. Is it safe to proceed with subcision at this time? I don't want to interfere with collagen development.

Yes, a combination approach is needed to give the most improvement with scarring. We often combine these treatments on the same day. Infini is a popular treatment, but I prefer Intensif because the needles are non-insulated. These types of scars need a combination of lasers, microneedling/prp, subcision and fillers. It will take a series of treatments and may need some treatments to maintain. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with an acne scarring expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Infini and subcision can be performed at the same time. I find this improves the overall results. When tethering is seen, a combination of infini, subcision and fillers may be necessary. There is no absolute rule when subcision should be done and I would listen to your doctor.

I don't believe there is a lot of value added with subcision but it is safe to do at anytime after the Infini. Most people with persistent issues after Infini need filler, such as Bellfill. You can't expect volume loss to be improved with just the Infini. Sometimes age related volume loss also needs to be corrected for optimal results.

You can combine treatments on the same day, no problem. In fact it preferable as microneedling is vertical needling, whilst subcision can be considered a subset of horizontal needling that is modified. I have both the INFINI RF and the Instensif systems. The motor or solenoid on the Intensif is better than the Infini- hence of fibrotic scars it has its advantages. For atrophic and shallower scarring, the INFINI has a power advantage.
