I'm looking at pictures of asian blephs and it seems that their eyebrows are always lower in the afters...will this always be a factor and an effect after surgery in addition ot the making of a double eyelid? I have a double eyelid but is very faint and I want it a little bit more pronounced, but more importantly, I actually LIKE the effect of what seems to be lower eyebrows in the after. Will i be able to get these lower eyebrows if I get a bleph?
Answer: Your impression is correct. Removing upper eyelid fold resting on the eye lashes will reduce the stimulus to lift the eyebrows. For this reason, yes the forehead will relax and the eyebrows will settle after upper eyelid surgery. For a given person, it is hard to know how much of this will occur but you are absolute correct. Generally this is a very helpful effect because it also helps to soften the pinch that is occurring along the eyebrow.

Answer: Asian blepharoplasty effect on eyebrow There are two possibilities that you might be seeing in these photos:1. If the patient has slight amount of eyelid ptosis [droopy eyelid], the asian blepharoplasty may raise the eyelid slightly. This will diminish the subconscious raising of the brow by the patient, thus in effect truly allowing the eyebrows to drop to the more natural position.2. By creating the crease, some of the eyelid skin is tucked inward in the crease, thus decreasing the amount of skin visible between the eyelid and the lower edge of the eyebrow, thus creating the illusion that the eyebrow is falling.

Answer: Asian blepharoplasty and eyebrow position Asian blepheorplasty allows for the creation of a crease in the upper eyelid. This can create a more open eyed look. Some patients have employed their eyebrows to open their eyes up over the years. When the crease is formed, less effort is required to keep the lids open therefore if appears that the eyebrows are lower.

Answer: Asian eyelid surgery or blepharoplasty with lowering of the brow .if he notices and a lot of postoperative photos after Asian eyelid surgery the distance between the crease and the brow tends to reduce. This is not always an actual reduction but in some cases in occlusion. Either way it can be a favorable change. Often times patients with a Monolid or heavier lids will stop raising the eyebrows unconsciously allowing the brow to lower giving the outcome your looking for.best of luckChase Lay, MDdouble board-certified facial plastic surgeonAsian facial plastics specialist
