Congratulations on your breast reduction. It is very common for your nipple sensation to increase considerably after surgery but it will decrease over the next 6 months. You will typically have more sensation. It is rare to lose sensation which most patients are scared of.
In my experience, nipples are not affected by breast surgery. It's not uncommon for women to tell me after surgery that their nipples seem to be always hard. We we looked back at the before-surgery pictures, that's the way their nipples were and nothing actually changed. They just weren't aware of it. Perhaps this is the case with you. For more information on this andsimilar topics, I recommend a plastic surgery Q&A book like "The ScoopOn Breasts: A Plastic Surgeon Busts the Myths."
Thank you for your question. It is normal to have some swelling in your nipples, but this will decrease in time. Give it about six months to recover from your #breast #reduction #surgery. Congratulations on receiving your breasts reduction! It sounds like things are healing well! Be sure to maintain contact with your board certified plastic surgeon #BCPS if any complications or questions come up. Best Wishes!
During the early post-op period, your nipples may be more sensitive, puffy, etc.. Give it 6 months or longer to settle down.
Thank you for your question. I am happy to know that you are having a good recovery and that your healing is going well. It is normal to have some issues with your nipples and they normally stabilize after 6 months. It would be very helpful for you to do superficial massages over your shirt, this will help them go back to normal faster. I hope this information was useful. Best regards,Dr. Urzola
