Picosure Focus alternating with Cynosure IPL or just use one of the two, and timeframe?

Question

Initial recommendation 4 sessions of Cynosure IPL in 4 mths, and then 1 every 3 months for a year. Or use Picasure Focus. Then I was told it would be better to have 8 sessions in 8 mths alternating between the two. Total of 4 Cynosure IPL and 4 Picasure Focus. The first recommendation would be 8 sessions over a 16-month period, where alternating them would be 8 sessions in an 8-month period. I am 56 years old with average skin imperfections. I will also be getting botox. Thouhts

Thank you for your question.  We actually have both devices mentioned.  We recommend the PicoSure FOCUS if we are mainly correcting brown pigment, plus fine lines and wrinkles.  We would recommend the ICON IPL PhotoFacial if we were correcting vascular lesions (red blood vessels...) and brown spots.  The IPL really doesn't help with fine lines and wrinkles.  The FOCUS treatment has virtually no downtime (redness for 0 to 4 hours) vs. IPL could be red and swollen for 24 to 48 hours.You can do BOTOX on the same day.  Always do your light based treatments before needle based treatments.  Best of luck...

the picsure laser by Cynosure is the best laser for improving your face of irregular complexion and areas of hyper-pigmentation. it will also help with fine lines and acne scarring etc. what is so great about this laser, compared to the IPL is that there is NO DOWNTIME!!!!!!! i just don't understand why they would use their IPL if they own the Picosure laser. We tell our patients to plan 3 sessions, each about a month apart. Of course, some patients may want an additional session or two.david berman md
