How to effectively treat this laser hair removal burn (underarm) in order to heal fast and prevent pigmentation changes? (Photo)

Question

I have been going to this clinic for 3 months now (3rd full leg treatment, 1st arm treatment)... and the tech was nice enough to offer to do my underarms. She has years of experience and I have never had this happen on my legs so far (and I am loving the results down there!) but today, she ended up burning my left underarm and told me to apply a triple AB cream and to sterily pop blisters. I have read against this on here and need advice! Presently unable to consult/afford dermatologist. Thanks!

The person who performed your treatment should have a medical Director or a physician who is knowledgeable about laser assisted hair removal who ultimately has responsibility for the patients treated at the clinic, I recommend being examined by the physician overseeing your treatments.

I suggest you find another office.  Much of this story makes little educated sense. For burns, triple cream AF is not the best treatment or a standard.  Also, no dermatologist would recommend sterilely popping a blister as there is risk of infection and scarring that way.  I suggest you got a second opinion.  Best, Dr. Emer.

With a burn like this you need to keep it moist (which is probably why she recommended AB ointment) and covered (so it stays on). Hence she recommended steri strips. You can use bandaids or anything else but the key is that you want to keep the area clean and well gooped up with ointment. This will help the skin heal from the under layers up and not create a bad divet. Keep the area clean and clear from crusts or scabs. "This
