Bruising, usually along the jawline, while not common, is also NOT rare. It happens and is due to the ultrasound energy being applied over the large blood vessels that come close to the jawbone in this area. Like other bruises, it will go away. See your physician if any side effects occur that persist.
Although bruising is rare following an Ultherapy treatment, it can happen. I have had Ultherapy in my office for over 5 years and have rarely mention this as something that happened. I do recommend that you avoid non steroidals such as Advil, Motrin etc the week prior except for right prior to your treatment. You will be somewhat sore following your treatment but should be able to go about your business the following day.
It is not uncommon to get both bruising and discomfort after Ultherapy. These are temporary changes which will improve quickly. Is helpful to avoid taking blood thinners prior to treatment if this is possible.
Bruising after an Ulthera treatment is a possibility for anyone who has the treatment. Although the instances of bruising among my patients is very low. In general, I have seen that people who regularly bruise easily are more likely to see some post-treatment bruising.
Thank you for your question moemoe1515. The amount of bruising and discomfort you experience from Ultherapy is not relative to the amount of fat you have in your face. Bruising is rare for patients to experience after an Ultherapy treatment. It is common for some patients to report mild to moderate discomfort during the treatment. The discomfort generally resolves after the treatment is complete. Although bruising is rare, patients who take blood-thinners on a daily basis have a higher risk of bruising than others. The bruising is not permanent and resolves on its own within 2 weeks.
In the three years that I have done ultherapy, I have seen bruising in only two patients. Both cases compeltely resolved in less than 10 days. There was only one spot, very small in the first patient and it was over the very bony prominence near the outer corner of the eye, and the company has changed the protocol so that we don't treat near that area since the skin is very thin and there is no fat cushion there. The other patient was treated by a plastic surgeon in my practice and the areas also was over a bony projection of the cheek with very little fat.The good news is this is not a complication, but a rare side effect, and self -limiting.The bruising will not cause a permanent negative result. However, should one be undergoing ultherapy close to a social event during which you'd rather not have bruising, then either reschedule to after the event, or refrain from taking any blood thinners for some time before the procedure. The critical period to abstain from these medicines varies on the actual medication or herbal supplement. Check with your doctor.
There is occasional bruising with an ulthera treatment. Some people bruise easily, and just the pressure on the machine against the skin may cause some local trauma and bruising. It will resolve and won't affect the result.
Hello and thanks for your question. Bruising is a rare adverse effect of the Ultherapy treatment. Most people don't develop bruising, but in rare situations it can happen. Being on Aspirin or any other blood thinner does increase the risk of bruising during the procedure. When bruising does occur, it is usually in the area of the jawline where there is less tissue between the skin and the bone. Rest assured, the bruising will completely resolve within 7 days. Hope this helps answer your question.
Most people DO NOT have bruising! Are you taking any medication or over the counter supplements that would lead to bruising? Patients do report experiencing no pain to moderate pain with the procedure. Our protocol is to premedicate only with ibuprofen. We have not had any patient ask to abort the procedure due to pain issues.
I would say that most people do not have bruising after Ultherapy treatment to the face, but it is possible. Bruising can occur when the ultrasound waves come in contact with a blood vessel. There should be no permanent issue and the bruising should resolve completely over a relatively short period of time.
Dear Princessway, Yes, there are certain areas to be avoided in the face. For instance, I would avoid the area below your thyroid cartilage or Adam’s apple and also the outer corners of the mouth. These areas have nerves that are very superficial or have vital organs that are very s...
Ultherapy power settings should be decreased when patients experience these sensations of 'shock waves or tingling in the forehead and scalp' during the procedure. If patients experience sensations, which are rare with the new programming modules on the current generation device, I reduce the...
While the Ulthera device is costly ($80,000-$100,000) it is the disposable transducers that are required that are the most costly for the physician (up to $1200 per treatment), which is one of the reasons the treatments are not inexpensive If you have a good treatment however, it's well...
