I had a root canal & crown 18 months ago as result of big decay I had that time. My tooth was ok with no pain until last week it starts hurting very bad. My dentist told me, the only option is extraction. Any other opinion?

If you have an upper retainer, the alignment should be okay. If not, then please address this issue to your dentist who is making you the new retainer. You may want to also let your orthodontist know if it was someone else who did your braces in the first place.
