Are there any methods to reduce muscles in my calves?

I have been considering liposuction, however, I realized that my calves got no fat, it's all muscles. So the liposuction option just went to the drain, are there any methods to reduce muscles on my calves?

Botox can subtly reduce the size of the lower legs. The non-surgical treatment works by paralyzing the muscle so that it is unable to fully contract. This gives the appearance of slimmer calves when normally contracted in situations such as standing when wearing heels. Botox for the calves does not restrict movement and you may resume all normal day to day activities.

Thank you for your question! While it is hard to say without a physical examination, you may be a candidate for calf botox. Our office treats hypertrophy (or muscles that are larger than normal) of the calf muscles with selective botox. This over time relaxes and atrophies the muscles to make them appear smaller. I suggest making an appointment with a board-certified plastic surgeon to discuss your options in more detail!

There are multiple options for calf reduction besides liposuction. Botox may be injected into calf muscles which is an effective, non-invasive, though temporary solution. Typically, I inject about 100 units to each calf. Another option is radio-frequency muscle ablation. This is a minimally invasive surgery that offers immediate results. Nerves may grow back after the procedure so sometimes more than one treatment may be required to achieve desired results.Two permanent options are a selective neurectomy and partial muscle resection.
