I have noticeable skin laxity, crepiness and lines after dissolving filler on one side of my nasiolabal fold. What is the best treatment? I have an at home RF/EMS device but it only reaches .5-1mm with RF. Is this effective? I have done one ultracel q hifu and have started in-clinic nanoneedling and peels but looking for a more effective treatment. Would profhilo, morpheous, lasers work best? I have rosacea type 1 currently under control.

Answer: Treatment for Fine Lines and Skin Laxity Thanks for your question. Radiofrequency microneedling devices can be very effective treatments for these concerns. A medical grade device would be necessary though as I have never seen a home device have a significant impact on collagen and elastin production- in most instances they are perhaps helpful in aiding the penetration of skin care products but not much more than that. Home devices do not generate/deliver the degree of heat necessary to stimulate the collagen and elastin production required to undo wrinkles and loose skin. Laser energy penetration is also limited- lasers are much more effective for treating skin lesions, redness, and to some extent fine lines if it is a resurfacing type of laser such as CO2 laser. Lasers do NOT do a good job treating loose skin (despite the plethora of false claims online). Profhilo is injectable hyaluronic acid- again could smooth some fine lines through mostly its hydrating effect but will not lift or tighten. Morpheus8 represents the industry leader in radiofrequency microneedling and has won numerous industry awards as best innovation, best microneedling device, etc... within the past few years. It is highly effective at both smoothing and tightening. It is capable of delivering heat to up to 8 mm of depth, though on the face we only use 0.5 to 3mm depths unless we want to dissolve unwanted fat cells. RF microneedling should be done in a series, with Morpheus8 we recommend 3 sessions, a month or more apart. The downtime is minimal and the results are very long lasting. Expect to do a yearly maintenance procedure as well. I hope that is helpful!
