I wish more people were so pro-active to aging. If ,as a teen, you stay out of the sun, never go in a tannings bed, never smoke, use a braod spectrum sunscreen daily and use a prescription retinoid like Retin A or Tazorac/Avage, you will have spectacular skin that will stay very smooth and blemish free. Collagen will also not be broken down as quickly and new collagen will be stimulated. All these things can translate to never needing a facelift. It also helps to have high cheekbones and a strong jawline and chin and great teeth to hold up the face over time.
The changes in Retin A are subtle and would not produce a "face lift" like effect. Studies have shown that use over 6 months can increase collagen production which can help to diminish fine lines.
So THE answer is yes. However the effect is mild, but noticable and reproduciable. Griffith et al did the studies, in the 80s. Most good dermos prescribe retinoids as preventive rather than ''face life '' effect. My regime is to incorporate retinoid after a laser procedure as long term management. Tretinoin can do some pretty amazing things but scar removal is not one of them. Steroids would help more. If you are a female and these "pimples" occur in the same place every month. I would strongly consider herpes simplex. In the female there is a nerve that hooks up into the...
Tretinoin cream is used for skin rejuvenation. The gel is too drying for mature skin unless it is very oily. Continue with the .05% cream, you do not need to have continued irritation for it to be effective. Studies have shown that the .1% cream will not offer any...
The generic version of Retin-A (tretinoin) is the best value. Tretinoin comes in three concentrations; 0.025%, 0.05%, and 0.1%. A 45g tube of 0.025% is approximately $60, the 0.05% is approximately $75, and the 0.1% is approximately $100. I usually start people with 0.025% as it causes less...
