Removing Mole Under Nose/Mustache Area? (photo)

If the mole is growing and you would like it treated again, make sure a biopsy is done prior to lasering.  

The mole should be biopsied to assess the changes in the pigmented lesion. I would perform the mole removal under local anesthesia in my Los Angeles plastic surgery practice.

There is a chance that this may be dysplastic, but it is hard to tell unless there is a biopsy taken.  There are methods used in my office to minimize scarring with mole removal biopsies. I would proceed with a biopsy after an examination.

This sounds as though it may be a cyst or an atypical mole that needs biopsy. An examination will help determine the dangers of the mole and the need for excision or conservative management. 

There are many variables to answer this question.  I perform a lot of mole removal biopsies and would differentiate the nose moles between raised and non-raised moles, epidermal or dermal, and whether it is located on the concave or convex surface of the nose.

New moles and those that have changed rapidly should be evaluated and biopsied as necessary. I would recommend a biopsy as moles can change during pregnancy, provided the exam demonstrates suspicion. I perform these biopsies under local anesthesia in my Los Angeles plastic surgery office.
