I had MOHS 4 weeks ago with flap repair. Stitches ran around the ala, under nose near the center, down to lip, along the lip line and out 1 inch. At 2 weeks there was a huge area of thick hard subQ scar tissue from mid lip out into the cheek. I was given steroid injections and instructed to do massage, which I've done. I recently had steroid injections again but I can't budge this scar tissue. It greatly reduces the use of my mouth on that side. Why did this happen? What more can I do?

The scar does appear thickened and has contracted. This is not unusual especially in this area and I would advise massage and silcone gel treatment in the initial phase. Your PS may have his/her own treatment regime for scar management. Lasers have been described to be of benefit and they may...
Great question but hard to assess from the photo. I would recommend an in person consultation with your surgeon who can examine the area under magnification and lighting. Sometimes a spitting suture can be removed and this will help settle the inflammation. I hope this helps.
